Mayuri Rajakaruna, Sriya Tallapragada, and Lauren Venturella are troop members of Girl Scout troop 40140. They have been working towards completing their silver award by creating workshops on mental health topics for members of the community to attend. 

They are inviting kids ages 5-12 to come. These events will be featuring a local therapist, doctor, or social worker and a Girl Scout. Each workshop will consist of crafts, games, and lessons that kids can engage in and enjoy! Each family/group coming to the workshop should be attending with an adult. The adult must stay at the workshop at all times! 

These events will be hosted at the New Providence Memorial Library (377 Elkwood Ave, New Providence, NJ 07974). The schedule will be as follows:

May 8th - Stress and Anxiety Workshop 4:30 - 5:45 P.M. 

In this workshop, we will be talking about the nervous feeling you might get thinking about taking on big tasks, something that scares you, or doing something for the first time. We will discuss how to tell if you are experiencing this stress and you will learn new helpful strategies to combat it.

May 15th - Self Esteem Workshop 4:30 - 5:45 P.M. 

Join us on May 15th, from 4:30-5:45 pm EST! In this workshop, Rebecca Perlman Coniglio (She is an LCSW, certified school social worker, school counselor, and an award-winning children's book author) and Mayuri Rajakaruna who is the Girl Scout Hostess mandating this event. We will be teaching kids what Self-Esteem is and how to maintain it properly. There will be a fun interactive lesson the kids will be involved in, and later throughout the workshop kids will be doing crafts such as creating Self-Esteem Jars and coloring Self-Esteem Bookmarks. All supplies will be provided at the workshop! After this event, your child will know all about Self-Esteem and will be able to think positively about themselves, pick themselves up, and create a positive image for themselves. 

May 22nd - Goal Orienting Workshop 4:30 - 5:45 P.M. 

Join us on May 22nd, from 4:30-5:45 pm EST! In this workshop, Lindsey Robertson (Child & Family Psychotherapist) will be talking about tips and tricks to manage time and set realistic goals. We will be discussing growth mindsets, procrastination, organization tips, healthy vs. unhealthy coping strategies, and SMART goals. Culmination in a fun DIY activity, this event will leave your child with personalized goals and an idea on how to make the most of their time.

May 29th - Kindness Rock Garden 10:00 A.M. - 3:00 P.M. 

Join us on May 29th, from 10 AM to 3 PM EST! This event is where any kids or adults can come to the library and pick up a craft bag filled with supplies for them to create their kindness rock! They can choose to keep it for themselves or place it at the New Providence Memorial Library's Kindness Rock Garden! Kids and adults can bring a friend and a blanket and sit outside the library and listen to some music and have some fun painting rocks with their friends.
