HACKENSACK, NJ – July 1, 2020 – The Diabetes Foundation, the go-to organization for answers and resources for people living with diabetes in New Jersey, recently announced new and expanded online programming as New Jersey’s COVID-19 restrictions and limitations continue with respect to public gatherings. This expanded programming includes a wealth of information on their website, alongside regular webinars and live streams on their Facebook page.

“In the place of our normal in-person events and programming around the State of New Jersey, we are happy to continue to expand our online programming,” said Ginine Cilenti, Executive Director of the Diabetes Foundation. “We hope that many of these programs, run and supported by our amazing partners within the health and diabetes space, will continue to serve our participants and the public from the comfort and safety of their own homes.”

All online programming and events are listed and accessible through the Diabetes Foundations website at diabetesfoundationinc.org/events. One such resource is a weekly exercise program with Meaghan Donnelly. She has been a personal trainer and coach for almost 15 years. Donnelly is also a USA Weightlifting Coach, a USA Swimming Coach, a Certified Personal Trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine, and a Fascial Stretch Specialist through the Stretch to Win Institute.

Our newsletter delivers the local news that you can trust.

Every Tuesday and Thursday at 9 a.m. EDT, Donnelly leads Facebook live participants in a fun, effective, and low-impact activity session that participants can watch and follow along with. Integrating both cardio and strength training into a 20-minute workout session, Donnelly shows participants how to get the most out of their training using only items that everyone has available around their living room.

The online programming also includes the Diabetes Foundation’s own Marlene Korngold, a Diabetes Resource Specialist who has worked with the foundation’s participants for more than seven years. A type 1 diabetic for more than 30 years, Korngold has a demonstrated record of helping participants solve their diabetes-related problems throughout her time with the organization. Korngold speaks on various diabetes-related topics for attendees such as “The Ups and Downs of Monitoring Blood Sugar” and “Marlene’s Healthy Eating Tips.”

All webinars hosted by the Diabetes Foundation are also free to the public, but require RSVP on the Diabetes Foundation’s website at diabetesfoundationinc.org/events. Continued and extensive online programming is just one of the many ways the Diabetes Foundation is offering direct support to allow diabetes and lifestyle management to be more affordable, regardless of insurance status.
