Burglary / Theft

October 29, 2020 (Claremont Avenue): An employee of CVS Pharmacy reported that her personal keys as well as store keys were stolen from the check-out counter.  Surveillance images show the suspect to be a black male, 5'8 with a thin build.  The suspect was wearing a reflective grey bubble coat with what appeared to be "DK' in black capital letters on the left sleeve and a black hoody underneath. He was also wearing black pants/sweats, black face mask, black gloves, and black sneakers with possibly white soles.

October 31, 2020 (Washington Street): The victim reported that his bicycle, which had been parked along the northern fence of the playground at Charles Bullock School, was stolen.  The bicycle was described as a light blue men’s Felt mountain bike.

October 31, 2020 (Midland Avenue): A representative of Union Baptist Church reported that checks were stolen from the Finance Office of the Church.  There is currently no financial loss and there are no suspects.  

 

Recovered Stolen Vehicle

October 30, 2020 (Orange Road): An Acura TL reported stolen from Montclair in August was recovered parked and unoccupied in Newark.  No arrests were made.  

 

Attempted Burglary

November 1, 2020 (Montclair Avenue): The resident reported that at some point between Friday October 30th and Monday November 1st, an unknown person(s) attempted to enter his detached garage.  Entry was not gained but a door lock valued at approximately $100.00 was damaged.  

November 2, 2020 (Sherman Street): The resident reported that an unknown person(s) attempted to enter her apartment via two bedroom windows.  One window appeared to be bowed out and appeared to have been tampered with and the second window was open at the top.  The second window appeared to have been forced down while locked damaging the locking assembly with the window screen placed on the ground.  There were several other windows located on the east side of the building that appeared to be tampered with.  The resident was unsure if entry to the apartment was gained.  

 

Damage to MV

October 31, 2020 (North Fullerton Avenue): The victim reported going out to her vehicle and observing it covered with syrup and a “sticky substance”.  The suspect(s) also scratched the driver and passenger side of the vehicle with an unknown object, possibly a key.  

 

Arrests

October 31, 2020 (Union Street): Mr. Bolivar Heras (44 y/o, Bogota, NJ) was charged with Driving While Intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop.  

November 1, 2020 (Bloomfield Avenue): Mr. Julio DeJesus (50 y/o, Newark, NJ) was charged with Driving While Intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop.
