May 29, 2020; Motor vehicle theft; At approximately 1:50 a.m., a vehicle left running at the Wawa was stolen. It was recovered several days later in Irvington.
June 2, 2020; Theft from auto; During the afternoon hours several items were removed from an unsecured vehicle parked on Rutgers St. They were located on Newark Way and returned to the owner.
June 3, 2020; Motor vehicle theft; At approximately 12:30 am, a vehicle left running was stolen from the 66 Gas Station on Springfield Ave.
June 6, 2020; Theft of auto parts; Sometime over the previous few days the catalytic converter was cut off of a vehicle parked in the pool lot on Boyden Ave.
June 6, 2020; Bicycle theft; During the overnight hours a bicycle left on the front lawn of a home on Elmwood Ave was stolen. Three different bicycles were left behind by the thieves.
In addition to the above events there were fourteen separate shoplifting incidents between May 22 and June 7.
The Maplewood Police Department works hard to protect the residents and their property. We are asking that you assist us in this effort by making sure all vehicles and homes are properly secured at all times. All charges are merely accusations. Each suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
