May 1, 2020; Possession of Stolen vehicle Arrests; At approximately 11:30 p.m., officers responded to the 66 Gas Station. With the assistance of Union PD, a vehicle stolen out of Irvington was recovered and three individuals were arrested for being in possession of it.  Nineteen-year-old Anaia Staton of Montclair, eighteen-year-old Kamryn Coates of Maplewood and a sixteen-year-old juvenile were all taken into custody and charged.

May 6, 2020; Package Theft; On 5/7, a resident of the 200 block of Jacoby St responded to Police headquarters and reported that on 5/6 at approximately 10:50 a.m. a package was stolen from in front of their home.

May 6, 2020; Package Theft; On 5/9, a resident of Park Ave responded to Police headquarters and reported that on 5/6 at approximately 1:50 p.m. two packages were stolen from in front of their home.

May 12, 2020; Motor Vehicle Theft; At approximately 2:45 a.m., a vehicle parked on the street on Boyden Parkway South was stolen. The vehicle had been left unsecured with the key fob inside the vehicle. It was recovered several hours later in Irvington and the actor, eighteen-year-old Rolandito Hernandez-Ayala was identified, arrested and charged with the theft.

May 12, 2020; Theft from Auto; During the overnight hours an unsecured vehicle parked on Franklin Pl was entered and a driver’s license and several credit cards were stolen.

May 12, 2020; Theft from Auto; During the overnight hours an unsecured vehicle parked on North Terr was entered and several credit cards were stolen.

In addition to the above events there were eleven separate shoplifting incidents between May 1 and May 13.

The Maplewood Police Department works hard to protect the residents and their property.  We are asking that you assist us in this effort by making sure all vehicles and homes are properly secured at all times.  All charges are merely accusations. Each suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
