June 15, 2020; Rummaging: An unsecured vehicle parked on Midland Blvd. was rummaged through during the overnight hours. At the time of the report, nothing was believed to be missing.
June 16, 2020; Vehicle Recovery: A vehicle stolen out of Newark was located parked on Hillcrest Rd.
June 18, 2020; Bicycle Thefts: During the afternoon hours two bicycles were stolen from Underhill Field.
June 20, 2020; Bicycle Theft: At approximately 8 p.m., a bicycle was stolen from the rear of a home on Highland Ave.
June 22, 2020; Package Theft: During the daytime hours a package was removed from in front of a home on Indiana St.
June 22, 2020; Shoplifting/Robbery: At approximately 3:45 p.m., officers responded to the 7-11 on Irvington Ave on a reported shoplifter. Officers were able to locate the subject, who had left the store with two beverages. After locating the male, Adam Gregory, 39, of Newark, it was learned that prior to the shoplifting incident he had attempted to take a cell phone from a 17-year-old female that was waiting at the bus stop. He was taken into custody, charged and transported to Essex County Jail.
During the period of June 10-22, there were four shoplifting incidents in addition to the above incidents.
The Maplewood Police Department works hard to protect the residents and their property. We are asking that you assist us in this effort by making sure all vehicles and homes are properly secured at all times. All charges are merely accusations. Each suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
