Amid this year’s anxiety and uncertainty, I want to take a moment to recognize a milestone during the pandemic.
Rowan College at Burlington County’s spring registration opened on October 15 with twice as many on-campus options, as well as an increased number of live online sessions. This reflects two critical points:
1. We listened to the feedback we received from students who wanted more live interaction with their instructors both on-campus and online.
2. Our students, faculty and staff have been very cooperative in complying with the college’s COVID safety protocols.
I recognize that there is some good fortune involved, but I don’t think it’s a coincidence that we’re in a position to safely increase options for students in the spring semester. The personal responsibility exhibited by our college community has allowed our plan to ramp up our return to campus as planned. We developed a sound plan that needed everyone to be accountable for their actions. So far, our entire community as responded like the true Barons we are!
As a parent, I understand the anxiety of sending your child to college during a health crisis, but as an educator, I am reassured that there is a high-quality and safe option to continue earning college credits that will transfer to just about any major university.
