It is an honor and privilege to be on the ballot for the 2020 Primary and General Election where I hope to win your support and represent you as a member of the Hasbrouck Heights Town Council. I write to you today to share a little about the person I am and the person you can count on as a council member.
I received my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Rowan University and my graduate degree in Educational Leadership from New Jersey City University. I have been an educator in the Hasbrouck Heights Public School District for over twenty years. I taught Mathematics at Euclid Elementary School, Hasbrouck Heights Middle School and Hasbrouck Heights High School. In 2008 was selected as the Hasbrouck Heights Middle School Teacher of the Year. I currently lead Euclid Elementary School as their Principal, a position I have had the honor of holding for the past eight years.
I proudly served for sixteen years in the United States Marine Corps Reserves, with over five years on Active Duty Status. I left for the Marine Corps Recruit Depot just two days after graduating High School. A few weeks after September 11th, I contacted a Prior Service Recruiter to reenlist. I was then activated back into the United States Marine Corps and deployed to support Operation Iraqi Freedom and The Black Sea Rotational Force. While serving my country, I achieved the rank of a Staff Non-Commissioned Officer, and earned the Navy Marine Corps Achievement, National Defense Service, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary, and Global War on Terrorism Service Medals as well as the Navy Sea Service Deployment Ribbon.
I continue to serve the great community of Hasbrouck Heights in many ways. I am a member and past President of the Hasbrouck Heights Lions Club, a service organization whose mission is to assist those in need and to give back to our community. The Hasbrouck Heights Lions Club has made various donations to our community, with one of the more notable being the clock that is located directly in front of the Municipal Building. I am the Quarter Master of Hasbrouck Heights Memorial Post 4591, an organization that works to support veterans, service members and their families, as well as communities worldwide. I have also been appointed by the Mayor and Council to serve as a trustee on the Hasbrouck Heights Free Public Library Board and a member of the Hasbrouck Heights Zoning Board.
I reside on Washington Place with my wife, Jeanine, and our two boys, Daniel and Christopher. The boys have had the privilege and joy of participating in many of the town's recreational clubs and sports that include: Soccer, Baseball, Football, Wrestling, Swimming and Diving. Our family currently maintains memberships on all three of the PTA organizations that support our students. Jeanine is a past member of the Hasbrouck Heights Junior Woman’s Club and currently is on the Hasbrouck Heights Swim Club Board.
As you probably already know, we live in a very special community. We live in a community that welcomes each other, a community that looks out for each other, and a community that helps each other. I am proud to say I am a resident of Hasbrouck Heights, and I look forward to being a part of the Hasbrouck Heights Town Council. It's my goal to continue to keep Heights the special community it is today, while building upon the accomplishments of my predecessors.
