1/12/2021 at 6:20 a.m. — Theft

A resident reported that a sign on the front of their property in the 100 block of Madison Avenue was stolen. The theft occurred around 6:20 a.m. The value of the sign is estimated at $10. This is an ongoing investigation.

1/12/2021 at 7:13 a.m. — Motor Vehicle Burglary, Theft

A resident of the 500 block of Hillcrest reported that their vehicle was burglarized while parked in front of their residence. The resident reports that unknown person(s) entered their unlocked vehicle. The person(s) then removed one gift card from the vehicle and the gift card had a balance of $60. No other items were reportedly stolen from the vehicle. There are no suspects at this time.

1/12/2021 at 8:44 a.m. — Motor Vehicle Burglary

During the course of an investigation of a burglary to a motor vehicle on the 500 block of Hillcrest the investigating officer located another victim who had their vehicle burglarized. This victim stated they parked their vehicle in front of their home in the street and the vehicle was apparently left unlocked. The various items were rummaged through in the vehicle, but the resident reported nothing stolen.

1/12/2021 at 9:16 a.m. — Motor Vehicle Theft

A resident of the 400 block of Mountain Avenue reported their vehicle stolen. The vehicle is described as a 2019 Toyota valued at approximately $25,000. The vehicle was parked in the driveway of the residence, unlocked with the vehicle keys inside. The vehicle was stolen between 10 p.m. the previous evening and 8 a.m. the morning of the report. The resident also reported that several items of value were inside the vehicle at the time of theft. Those items included clothing, jewelry, and vehicle car seats. The approximate value of the items stolen is over $2,500. There are no suspects at this time.

1/12/2021 at 3:01 p.m. — Theft

Three Belgian blocks were removed from the curb area of East Broad in the area of Prospect Street. The approximate value of each block is $10 with the total value of the theft being $30. This is an ongoing investigation.         

1/13/2021 at 4:36 p.m. — Motor Vehicle Burglary, Theft

A resident reports that an unknown actor(s) entered their unlocked motor vehicle in the 500 block of Terrace Place. The vehicle was parked in their driveway at the time of the burglary. The unknown person (s) removed 16 quarters (U.S. currency) and as such the theft totaled $4. There were no other items reported stolen. The resident reported that the theft could have occurred over the previous three days. There are no suspects at this time.

1/14/2021 at 8:22 p.m.— Fraud, Identity Theft

A resident in the 400 block of East Broad Street stated that unknown actor(s) utilized his information in order to lease an apartment in New York. The approximate amount for the lease of the apartment in $3,005 a month. It should be noted that the lease was signed for a year, thus making the victim liable to cover the cost for the entire 12-month lease, approximately $36,060.

1/15/2021 at 3:37 p.m. — Drugs

Officers Gill and Donovan arrested Jarrod Williams, 32, of Roselle, for possession of marijuana under 50 grams, pursuant to a motor vehicle stop in the area of Park Street and Central Avenue. Williams was transported to Westfield Police Headquarters where he was processed and released on a summons pending a court appearance.

1/16/2021 at 2:24 a.m. — Motor Vehicle — Burglary

A resident of the 100 block of Windsor Avenue was the victim of a burglary to their motor vehicle. The vehicle was parked in the victim's driveway during the overnight hours when it was entered by unknown suspect(s) and rummaged through. At this time there appears to be no proceeds taken from the vehicle.

1/16/2021 at 2:25 a.m. — Motor Vehicle Burglary Attempt

A resident of 100 block of Winsor Avenue reported an attempted burglary to her motor vehicle. Victim stated that that on Jan. 16 at approximately 2:25 a.m. two unknown men attempted to burglarize her 2019 Toyota Highlander, which was parked in the driveway. This incident was captured on video surveillance camera, which showed two men walking up to the vehicle and attempting to gain access by pulling on the front driver's door. Suspects failed to gain entry due to vehicle being locked.

1/16/2021 at 3:55 a.m. — Motor Vehicle Theft

A resident of 1100 block of Boynton Avenue reported that her 2018 Subaru Impreza was stolen by unknown suspects. Victim stated that she parked the vehicle in the parking lot on Jan. 14, at approximately 10 p.m. and when she returned on Jan 16 at approximately 10:50 a.m. she noticed that her vehicle was missing. Victim recalled locking her vehicle and was in possession of both keys. In addition to the $22,000 vehicle that was stolen, the victim estimated that $255 worth of miscellaneous items were contained within the interior of the stolen vehicle.

1/16/2021 at 12:30 p.m. — Motor Vehicle Burglary, Theft

A resident of the 300 block of East Grove Street reported a burglary to his motor vehicle and theft of items within. The vehicle was parked in the victim’s driveway during overnight hours. Proceeds from the theft appear to be the victim's wallet containing $200 in cash, credit cards and various forms of identification. There are no suspects at this time while an investigation is pending.
