TRENTON, NJ - Governor Phil Murphy released the newest number of positive cases of COVID-19 and deaths from around the state during his Thursday afternoon press conference in Trenton.

There are 539 new cases with 27 new deaths. Statewide, there are 172,356 positive cases and 13,251 deaths, and 1854 probably COVID deaths.

According to Murphy, Bergen County has 19,474 positive cases, and followed by Hudson (18,874), Essex (18,804), Passaic (16,920), and Middlesex (16,852), with 672 under investigation.  There are a total of 1,733 deaths in Bergen County, while Essex County, continues to lead the state with 1,789, according to Governor Murphy.

As of 10 p.m. Wednesday, Murphy noted were 1,027 patients in the hospital being treated for COVID-19, with 216 patients were in ICU or critical care, and 170 patients on ventilators. There were 83 live patients discharges from the hospital, with 51 new admissions.
