SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ -- The Fanwood – Scotch Plains Service League, Thrift Shop, located at 1741 East 2nd St., Scotch Plains, has reopened. In response to the pandemic, and to provide a relatively safe place for shoppers and volunteers new shopping hours and policies are in effect. Shopping hours are Tuesday 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Thursday, 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Please call about Saturdays.

New shopping procedures have been established: Face masks must be worn. The shop is marked for social distancing. Only 6 customers are allowed in the store. Shoppers only. At this time no children. Upon entrance shoppers are treated with hand sanitizer. Upon purchase shoppers bag their purchases. No dressing rooms are available. The Thrift Shop remains cash only, small denominations appreciated. We request cooperation. Shopper’s response to the new procedures, will determine if the shop remains open.

During business hours the shop is accepting donations. At the time of the March closing, the shop sold out its winter items. We are requesting only donations of winter items, particularly clothing. For our customer's safety, all clothing and certain other items will be stored for approximately 48 hours. Please, only clean lightly used items should be donated.

The Fanwood - Scotch Plains Service League greatly appreciates cash donations. The League has a long history of providing scholarships and support to local and county service agencies. Right now we are trying to meet our rent and other expenses. To our customers, the volunteers have tried their best to provide quality items at fair prices. Please do not haggle.
