GLEN ROCK, NJ - In conjunction with the Glen Rock Arts Council, the Glen Rock Pops orchestra will appear in a 90-minute variety broadcast scheduled for Friday, Sept. 25 at 8 p.m. on Glen Rock TV, Vimeo, and the Arts Council of GR website. 

In addition to the full orchestra’s participation, the production will feature solo musicians, dancers, singers, and comedians – all residents of town. The orchestra, under the baton of Music Director Anthony LaGruth, will perform music from The Godfather.  Featured soloist is Mike Monticello on the trumpet. Pops saxophonist Bob Kaufmann and Jean Papsun will appear separately in solo performances.  

The orchestra has 48 member musicians and nine are from Glen Rock: Jay Bernstein/Trumpet who also serves on the GRVAC, Georgene Betterbed/Pianist, serving as Community Liaison and Marketing Coordinator of the Pops.  She presides over the Friends of the Library.  A young, life-time resident of Glen Rock, Molly Cunningham/Clarinetist joined the Pops in 2018.  Music and the climate make-up Ken Jones favorite pastimes as he plays the flute and serves on the board of the Glen Rock Environmental Commission. Bob Kaufmann is a long-time resident of Glen Rock. He has been with the Pops since 1981, making him its longest playing member.  

Abby Kniffin/Cellist is a recent resident of Glen Rock and member of the Pops. Her musical background serving as Principal Cellist of the New Amsterdam Orchestra (NYC) and a member of the Adelphi Orchestra (River Edge). Jeanne Massaro/Violinist is a twenty-year member of the orchestra and teaches Math at Bergen County Special Services. Kathy Meneghin/Violinist teaches Biology in Fair Lawn and Jeanne Papsun/Violinist is a former Music Teacher in Byrd and Hamilton schools.
