SPARTA, NJ – The driver of a car stuck in the grassy medium said he was coming from a baby shower in Vernon but could not explain how he came to be stuck.  On February 28 around 9:45 p.m. Officer Brian Porter found the stuck Honda Civic with three occupants.  The driver was Elizabeth resident Mack Reyes-Acevedo, 24, police said.

Reyes-Acevedo appeared to Porter to be intoxicated. The officer had the driver perform field sobriety tests.  He was then taken into custody and brought to Sparta Police Department Headquarters for processing, police said.

After breath testing Reyes-Acevedo was charged with DWI, careless driving, failure to keep right on a highway and failure to possess a driver’s license.  He was given a court date and released to a sober adult.
