ROBBINSVILLE TOWNSHIP, NJ -- The Robbinsville Township Fire Department honored one of its own on Friday -- Firefighter Ed Haemmerle -- as he worked his last tour of duty. Haemmerle is a career firefighter who is retiring after 20 years of service to the Robbinsville community.
Ed, a third generation firefighter, has served for over 32 years in fire services. He joined the Robbinsville Fire Department in March 2001. Haemmerle was a volunteer firefighter in West Windsor Township beginning in 1988; worked with Union City EMS for eight years; and West Windsor Emergency Services before his two-decade long career as a professional firefighter in Robbinsville.
In its farewell to Haemmerle, Robbinsville Township Fire Department said he "has always been a committed professional, a trusted firefighter, and a valued member of the department."
"On behalf of the entire RTFD and the Township of Robbinsville, we wish Firefighter Haemmerle success in his future endeavors and thank him for his service to our organization and the citizens of Robbinsville Township," added the Department.
Mayor Dave Fried gave Haemmerle the key to the city, as is customary for firefighters who served the community for more than 20 years.
