PATERSON, NJ - A 23-year-old Newark man is in stable condition after being shot early Sunday, according to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Ibrahim Baycora.

In a statement, the law enforcement officials announced that members of the Paterson Police Department were dispatched to the area of East 23rd Street and Park Avenue at approximately 12:30 a.m. on a report of shots fired.

While units were responding, the Paterson Police Department was advised that the victim had arrived at Saint Joseph’s Regional Medical Center for treatment of non-fatal gunshot wounds.

A potential crime scene was located where the reports of the shooting originally came from and an investigation remains active and ongoing.
