HAWTHORNE, NJ - A one-time branches collection has been announced by the Borough of Hawthorne for collecting tree and yard waste as a result of Tropical Storm Isaias which struck the borough on Tuesday.

A statement from the borough said that branches "will be collected at curbside" listing the following schedule:

  • Monday, August 10, Zone or Ward 1
  • Thursday, August 13, Zone or Ward 2
  • Friday, August 14, Zone or Ward 3
  • Saturday, August 15, Zone or Ward 4

The borough emphasized that this is a one-time collection for branches which will not be held again.  "All branches from the August 4, 2020, storm must be placed at the edge of your lawn (not in the street or blocking the sidewalk) by Sunday evening, August 9."

The borough listed exclusions from the collection.  "As with vegetative waste, we will not collect firewood, logs, stumps, grass, rocks, or building materials."

Normal recycling and garbage scheduling has not been affected.
