TRENTON, NJ - Governor Phil Murphy released the newest number of positive cases of COVID-19 and deaths from around the state during his Wednesday afternoon press conference where he re-affirmed the re-opening of casinos, amusement parks, museums, libraries, and indoor recreation and gyms on July 2.

There are 423 new cases with 45 new deaths. Statewide, there are 171,928 positive cases and 13,224 deaths, and 1854 probably COVID deaths.

According to Murphy, Bergen County has 19,445 positive cases, and followed by Hudson (18,842), Essex (18,771), Passaic (16,894), and Middlesex (16,825), with 643 under investigation.  There are a total of 1,733 deaths in Bergen County, while Essex County, continues to lead the state with 1,787, according to Governor Murphy.

As of 10 p.m. Tuesday, Murphy noted there was a "slight increase" with 1,080 patients in the hospital being treated for COVID-19, with 217 patients were in ICU or critical care, and 178 patients on ventilators.
