EDISON, NJ — Edison Township has partnered with WellCare Health Plans, Inc. to provide free COVID-19 tests for residents until January 31st.

The drive-thru tests are being administered at Edison's Lake Papaianni, 100 Municipal Blvd. Residents must arrive at the drive-thru clinic in a vehicle and wearing a mask.

Residents need to register to make an appointment.

Our newsletter delivers the local news that you can trust.

These are the remaining dates for free testing:

  • Jan. 15, Friday
  • Jan. 18, Monday
  • Jan. 22, Friday
  • Jan. 25, Monday

Residents must bring their original state-issued photo identification and all of their medical insurance cards.

Participants can download and fill out forms at home to save time in line.

Here are the three forms:

Assignment of Benefits Form [PDF]

Covid Specimen Intake Form [PDF]

According to WellCare’s website, individuals’ medical insurance will cover the cost of the test. “You will receive a statement from your insurance company—an explanation of Benefits (EOB)—which will itemize the services received, but it is not a bill.”

Unfortunately, WellCare cannot “support self-pay registrations.”

Testing is recommended by the Centers for Disease Controls and Prevention (CDC) if you have symptoms or if you’ve been within six feet of someone who has been diagnosed with COVID.

In addition, residents must test negative to receive their vaccine once they are eligible for it.

Edison Township reported a total of 4,586 COVID cases as of January 12.
