RARITAN TWP., N.J. – When Hunterdon Central Regional High School and schools in the Flemington-Raritan School District re-open, there is going to be at least one familiar presence for students.

The Class III Special Law Enforcement Officers who served in those districts will be returning.

The Raritan Township Committee unanimously re-appointed the officers for the 2020-2021 school year at their July 21 meeting.

Jack Gale Jr. and Joyce P. Hanshaw have been re-appointed to patrol Hunterdon Central. Michael P. Fitzpatrick and Harry E. Hults Jr. will return to the Flemington-Raritan School District.

The re-appointments come shortly after the committee approved in June their agreements with the respective school districts to provide officers.

The agreement with Flemington-Raritan covers the 2020-2021 school year, and the district will be billed for the actual hours officers work. Hunterdon Central’s agreement goes through the 2022-2023 school year, and the district will pay the township $150,000 over the term.
