CLARK, NJ – What do they have rocks in their heads? Ask that question of members of a local group called Clark Rockz, and they may just say they do. Visions of their next rock masterpiece is probably floating through their mind at any given time.
The group of about 100 hobbyists passionate about their craft are part of a kindness project started by Clark resident Nancy Morris. According to Morris, members paint and hide rocks throughout parks in town just to brighten the day of those that find them.
“The point is to leave painted inspiration or just painted rocks around for people to find,” said Morris. “You’re having a bad day and look down to see a rock that says, ‘you got this’ or ‘smile’…people around Clark are finding rocks and either keeping them or re-hiding them.”
Morris started the Clark Rockz Facebook group in April. Since that time many folks have joined the movement. Families have gotten involved too according to Morris, first finding the rocks and then making some to hide.
New members are welcome to join the group and then start making rocks, finding rocks and sharing their rock stories.
