SUMMIT, NJ - Junior quarterback Charlie Schaffer has been honored as the Salerno Duane Summit High School Football Player of the Game for his peformance in the Hilltoppers battle with Somerville, a game that went back-and-forth all afternoon before the Pioneers pulled away late to win, 55-42.

Schaffer threw for 303 yards and three touchdowns, connecting on numerous long-gainers and averaging a whopping 34 yards per completion. Schaffer's touchdown tosses went to junior Ellis Sorenson (55 yards), junior Conor St.Amant (64 yards) and senior Ethan Engmann (18 yards).

The Salerno Duane Summit High School Football Player of the Game Award is a collaboration between Salerno Duane Jeep Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram of Summit and TAPinto Summit which, after each Summit High School Varsity Football game, honors a Hilltopper player or players -- as designated by the coaching staff -- for their performance(s).

Summit, now 2-2 on the season, will next travel to face Edison on October 30. Kick-off is set for 7 p.m.
