09/14/2020-Officers responded to 8 Franklin Street (Stop and Shop) on report of a shoplifting. The Loss Prevention officer observed an African American male wearing a black jump suit attempt to steal store items valued at $411.00. Loss Prevention recovered the items and the suspect fled the store. This incident is under investigation. A picture of the suspect is below.
9/14/2020-Leon Dock age 34 of Newark NJ. Officers responded to 8 Franklin Street (Stop and Shop) on report of a shoplifting. The Loss Prevention officer observed Mr. Dock walk out of the establishment with a shopping cart full of proceeds without paying. Leon Dock was arrested and charged with shoplifting. He was transported to the Essex County jail and has a pending court date.
09/18/2020-Rhett Ellis age 55 of Newark NJ. Officers responded to the area of 77 Bloomfield Avenue to search the area for a shoplifting suspect from Walgreens. Officers located a known shoplifter who had an outstanding Bloomfield arrest warrant. Mr. Ellis shoplifted numerous makeup items on 9/18/2020 valued at $501.00 from Walgreens. Mr. Ellis was charged with shoplifting and transported to the Essex County Jail.
09/18/2020-Jamie Hammill age 30 of Newark NJ. Officers responded to 35 Lackawanna Plaza (Buy Rite Liquors) on report of a shoplifting. The store manager observed Ms. Hamill conceal a bottle of Johnnie Walker Black valued at $60.00 into a black plastic bag. She then attempted to leave the store without paying for the liquor. Ms. Hamill was arrested and charged with shoplifting. Ms. Hamill was given a court date and released.
09/19/2020-Officers responded to 135 Bloomfield Avenue on a report of a shoplifting. The manager of the T-Mobile phone store observed an older African American male steal a cell phone from the register. The suspect grabbed the phone valued at $1100.00 and fled the store. The suspect then entered a red newer model Nissan. This incident is under investigation.
09/15/2020- Officers responded to Davey Street on a report of a stolen cell phone. Officers spoke to a female resident who stated that her friend plugged her phone into the plug to charge inside of the laundry room and when she returned, the phone was gone. This incident is under investigation.
09/20/2020-An officer took a report of a stolen Trump supporter sign from his front lawn located on Oakridge Road. The sign was stolen sometime between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 12:00 pm.
09/20/2020- Officers responded to 12 Arlington Avenue (Dollar Store) on report of a stolen cell phone. The customer placed her cell phone down inside of the store and when she returned moments later, the cell phone was gone. Video surveillance shows a Hispanic male grab the cell phone and walk out of the store. This incident is under investigation.
09/16/2020-Officers responded to the 100 block of Ampere Parkway on report of a stolen motorcycle. The resident parked his motorcycle outside of his residence and the suspect(s) stole the motorcycle between 3:30 and 6:30 a.m. The motorcycle is a grey 2019 Yamaha NJ registration B3DIFF. The motorcycle was entered NCIC stolen. This incident is under investigation. Pictures are below.
09/17/2020-Officers responded to the 300 block of Ampere Parkway on report of a strong-armed robbery. The male victim was sitting on his steps on Ampere Parkway when a male party struck him in the face multiple times. The suspect then took his cell phone and cash from the victim. The suspect fled on foot on Tunbridge Place towards Grove Street. This incident is under investigation.
The Bloomfield Detective Bureau investigated this Robbery and made an arrest. Dwayne Forestal age 23 of East Orange was identified and arrested by Detectives. He was charged with Robbery and transported to ECCF.
