Multiple Burglaries in Westfield and 'Road Rage' Incident

October 9, 2013 9:54 a.m.
An incident was reported in the 200 block of W. North Avenue of fraudulent checks. An individual passed a check totaling $1,890.00 for merchandise knowing the funds were insufficient.
October 9, 2013 1:30 p.m.
An incident of fraud was reported in the 500 block of Westfield Avenue. An individual attempted to obtain prescription medications by creating a false authorization.
October 9, 2013 5:58 p.m.
An incident was reported in the 200 block of E. Broad Street of fraudulent checks. An individual passed a check totaling $1,950.00 for merchandise knowing the funds were insufficient.
October 9, 2013 9:18 p.m.
Christopher Ford, 45, of East Orange was arrested for an outstanding warrant out of Harrison Municipal Court in the amount of $200.00 pursuant to a call of a suspicious person in the area of the Southside Train Station. Mr. Ford was transported to Headquarters and processed. It was discovered that Mr. Ford had two other outstanding warrants out of Newark Municipal Court ($5,050.00) and Trenton Municipal Court ($2,500.00). Mr. Ford was subsequently released on his own recognizance on all warrants.
October 10, 2013 10:05 a.m.
In the 20 block of E. Broad Street, a commercial business was the victim of a burglary. Entry was made by way of a back door being pried open and approximately $1,400.00 in cash was removed. No suspect(s) at this time.
October 11, 2013 12:02 a.m.
Terrance T. Clemens, 38, of East Orange was arrested for possession of marijuana under 50 grams pursuant to a motor vehicle stop in the area of South Avenue in Garwood Township. Clemens was transported to Westfield Police Headquarters where he was processed and released with a summons.
October 11, 2013 8:11 p.m.
Jullien Fernandez, 31, of Scotch Plains was arrested on the strength of the following warrants: East Brunswick Municipal Court warrants #E123964 ($250.00), #A-243505 ($250.00), 2012000221 ($500.00), Monroe Municipal Court warrant #E13-182 ($1,000.00), New Brunswick Municipal Court warrant #R109237 ($800.00), and Point Pleasant Beach Municipal Court warrant #PPC 55743 ($500.00). Total amount of bail $3,300.00. Mr. Fernandez was arrested on these warrants pursuant to a motor vehicle stop in the area of Lamberts Mill Road and Spruce Mill Lane. Fernandez was transported to Headquarters where he was processed and turned over to East Brunswick Police Department in lieu of bail.

Candice M. Bracuto, 21, of Rahway was arrested for possession of marijuana under 50 grams pursuant to a motor vehicle stop in the area of Central Avenue by Quimby Street. Bracuto was transported to Westfield Police Headquarters where she was processed and released with a summons.
October 12, 2013 11:19 p.m.
A resident in the area of Drummond Road reported a burglary to the residence which occurred between 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on October 10, 2013. The residents returned home and observed a rear window screen was removed and placed on the rear porch. A check of the residence for any suspect(s) was negative. It appears that several pieces of jewelry were stolen. This matter is currently under investigation by the Westfield Police Department Detective Bureau.
October 12, 2013 3:00 p.m.
Gwen Tyler, 52, of Mount Vernon, NY and Shanita Burris, 27, of Uniondale, NY were arrested for shoplifting at a business in the 200 block of E. Broad Street. Tyler was additionally charged with obstructing the administration of the law and her bail was set at $25,000.00 (no 10% option). She had two additional warrants out of Paramus (bail totaling $3,485.00) and one out of Woodbridge (bail $110.00). Tyler was unable to post bail and was held pending transport to Union County Jail. Burris’ bail was set at $10,000.00 (no 10% option). She was also unable to post bail and was held pending transport to Union County Jail.

A resident of the 100 block of Lincoln Road reports a burglary to the residence between the hours of 7:15 p.m. and 10:40 p.m. Actor(s) broke through a first floor window pane and then gained entry after unlocking and forcing open an adjacent casement window. Once inside, actor(s) proceeded upstairs and rummaged through several bedrooms. Unknown items stolen at this time.

Wayne S. Augenstein, 66, of Clark was arrested for terroristic threats, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon pursuant to an investigation of a “road rage” incident that occurred on Rahway Avenue near Lamberts Mill Road. Augenstein was transported to Headquarters, processed and released on $10,000.00 w/ 10% ($1,000.00) bail.

Ms. Louise Latriano, 59, of Cranford was arrested for possession of marijuana under 50 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of CDS in a motor vehicle, while conducting a traffic stop in Scotch Plains for a violation observed on Prospect Street. Ms. Latriano was transported to Westfield Police Headquarters for arrest processing without incident. She was released on her own recognizance with a scheduled first appearance date of October 24, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. at the Westfield Municipal Court.
October 15, 2013 9:04 p.m.
A resident of the 100 block of Lincoln Road reports a burglary to the residence which occurred at some time within the last week. Subject(s) entered through a second floor French door after climbing onto a second floor balcony by unknown means. Subject(s) removed numerous items of jewelry and cash totaling approximately $11,400.00 from several second floor bedrooms.
