Friday, August 17, 2012 • 12:05pm

Congregation Beth Israel in Scotch Plains will hold its third annual “BBQ & Barchu,” Friday evening, September 7.  A BBQ dinner, held on the synagogue’s outdoor patio, will start at 6:00 p.m., followed by communal singing to welcome Shabbat.  Family-friendly services for Friday night will begin at 7:30 p.m.  A dessert reception will conclude the evening.  The event is open to the community.

“The BBQ & Barchu has become a favorite event among congregants of all ages,” said Davida Berkowitz, Executive Director, Congregation Beth Israel.  “It is also a great way for prospective members who are considering joining the synagogue to meet us in an informal setting and to experience Shabbat with us,” Davida Berkowitz said.

Dinner costs $20 for adults, and $12 for children under 12 years old.  To attend or for more information, contact the synagogue office at (908) 889-1830. Congregation Beth Israel is located at 18 Shalom Way, Scotch Plains, NJ  (corner of Martine Avenue).
