Scholarship Essay Contest Winners Announced

Do-Re-Mi School

Earlier this winter, the Do-Re-Mi School offered two full year scholarships available to New Jersey students. Children of 6-16 years were asked to write a short essay of 500 words or less to express what music or art means to them, and why they want to take lessons.
 
The winners were announced at the school end-of-the-year recital on Sunday, June 10. A scholarship for a full year of private music lessons ($1400) was split between two Livingston students, Abigail Shvorin (Heritage) and Alexis Wasserman (LHS.)  A full year scholarship for a group art lessons was awarded to a 7 y.o. Alexandra Malikova
A number of Honorable Mention Certificates and $100 towards 2012-2013 tuition each was awarded to the following authors: Marusya Arievich,  Bella Brodsky, Jannet Chari, Kevin Chari,  Naomi Fields, Mikayla Fields,  Julia Gronowska, Maria Gronowska,  Katia Grytsayenko,  Brittaney Gui, Anjali Jerath, Edna Kraemer, Diana Nichvoloda, Rachel Lei, Yifei Li, Emily Lin, Jeremy Luo, David Lusinyants,   Ethan Muchnik, Oliva Muchnik, Elizabeth Peker, Jane Ryzhik, Yelin Yao, Shannon Zotti, Victoria Zotti.
 
"Children of various ages submitted deeply moving and thoughtful writings," the school owner Marina Goldin comments, "we learned a lot about children's motivation and how meaningful their connection to music is."
