WEST ORANGE, NJ - Due to expectations for a larger than normal turnout at the Board of Education meeting on Monday at 8 p.m., the meeting has been moved the Library Media Center at West Orange High School.
Highlights of the preliminary agenda, linked below, will include the appointment of Hayden Moore as the new West Orange High School principal, along with other appointments and resignations of staff. Additionally, various yearly contracts regarding busing, food services, and other shared services contracts will be voted on.
Please note this agenda is preliminary and additional documents, pertinent to the meeting and able to be posted on the West Orange School District website, are generally posted by noon on the day of the board meeting.
It is unknown whether the board or Dr. Donna Rando, acting superintendent, will provide further information on Dr. Anthony Cavanna or his paid administrative leave while 'district concerns' are under investigation.
Additionally, it was announced by the state comptroller's office yesterday that the West Orange School district, along with 55 other school districts/municipalites (57 total) were being cited for possible failure to remove either a private or independent contractor from the pension system. The state comptroller's office did not reveal the name of cited individual.
