Massachusetts Man Arrested on Alcohol, Drug Charges

On April 1 at 5:39 AM, Patrolman Andrew Chase responded to Main Street near North Passaic Avenue on a report of a driver who fell asleep at the wheel. Chase found a 2008 Ford stopped at the intersection with the driver apparently asleep. The driver, Brett A Chasnov age 20 of Plymouth MA, showed signs of being under the influence of alcohol. Field sobriety testing was completed and Chasnov was placed under arrest for DWI. During a search of his person a small amount of suspected marijuana was found in his pocket. As a result of this incident Chasnov was charged with: DWI, Reckless Driving, Disregard of traffic control device, Possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and Possession of CDS Paraphernalia. He was released to a friend pending further court action.

On April 5th at 9:14 PM, Patrolman Brian Maher stopped a 2004 Honda for failing to stop at a stop sign on Center Avenue at Weston Avenue. The driver of the car was identified as Peter Garrison age 18 of Chatham. It was discovered that Garrison had a $700 warrant out of West Milford Municipal Court. Garrison was arrested and brought to headquarters where he was able to post bail. He was then released pending further court action.

On April 7th at 1:46 AM, Detective Daniel Walsh stopped a 2003 Mercedes on Route 24 for speeding. The driver was identified as Rajae Awad age 32 of Brooklyn. It was discovered that Awad had a $300 warrant out of the Lacey Township Municipal Court and his license was suspended. He was arrested and brought back to headquarters for processing. He posted $300 bail and was issued summonses for Speeding and Driving while suspended.
