Holy Week Activities at Trinity Covenant Church

Trinity Covenant Church

Saturday, March 31, 2012 • 12:19pm

The three days of Easter will begin on Thursday evening, April 5 with a dinner at 6:30 pm at Trinity Covenant Church in Livingston.  The meal will be provided; free-will donations are welcome to cover the cost of food, but admission is free.

The meal, held in Fellowship Hall, will end in a communion service, which will be followed by a dramatic monologue, “The Master’s Table,” performed by Rebecca Weinberg.  The evening’s service commemorates Jesus’ “last supper” with his disciples.

Trinity’s Good Friday service will pick up the story again at 7:30 pm on Friday, April 6, with a “Service of Tenebrae” (a service of darkness).  Full of the emotion of seeing Jesus crucified, a service of darkness considers the loss of the “light of the world” – and what it was that brought him to be the sacrifice for sin.

This year, Trinity is also the host for the community’s Ecumenical Good Friday Service, at noon, featuring Christian clergy from many churches in Livingston, presenting the Seven Last Words of Christ.

On Sunday, April 8, joy returns as we celebrate the empty tomb and the resurrection of Jesus.  Easter service will take place at 11 am.  Children will help us find the “Alleluia” which has been hidden throughout Lent.

Trinity is located at 343 East Cedar St in Livingston, just off Northfield Rd.  For more information about any of these services, visit their web site at www.TrinityCovenantChurch.com or call the church office at 973-992-4044.
