Harding Man Arrested on Bad Check Charges

July 11, 2012 Gerald Byrne, 53 of Harding was charged by detectives with issuing a check against an account in which he knew, or should have known did not have sufficient funds to cover the $2,700.00 amount written on the check. The check, written to a Chatham Township resident, was issued as a first installment in repaying a $24,000 personal loan to a former friend. Byrne was processed and later released from police custody on his own recognizance. He is due to appear for a first hearing in the Chatham/Madison Joint Court later this month.
July 18, 2012 4:21pm police responded to a Sandy Hill Road residence for a complaint of someone soliciting magazines without a permit. The subject in question, Ashnah Hopkins, 26 of Glennie, Michigan was found in the roadway walking away from the residence. He was subsequently issued a local ordinance summons for soliciting without a permit by Officer Michael Sawyer and is scheduled in court next month to answer the charge.
July 18, 2012 5:26pm police responded to a Dale Drive residence for a complaint of someone soliciting magazines without a permit. The subject in question, Jerel Davis, 23, of Glennie, Michigan was found in the driveway of a neighboring residence. He was subsequently issued a local ordinance summons for soliciting without a permit by Officer Michael Sawyer and is scheduled in court next month to answer the charge.
