Chatham Borough Residence Robbed While Owners Away

On June 25, patrols investigated a burglary on Wilson Street. A resident came home from vacation to find that their home was burglarized while they were away. A glass pane next to the front door was broken allowing the actor to reach in and unlock the door. Valuables from the bedrooms were taken and apparently removed from the house using a pillowcase from one of the beds. The time frame of the incident is from June 16 through the 25th and anyone with information is asked to contact the Chatham Borough Detective Bureau at 973-635-8553.

On June 26 at 5:16 PM, Sergeant Jayson Cittrich investigated an accident on Watchung Avenue. A box truck driven by Troy Franklin age 24 of Vauxhall, was traveling east on Watchung when the truck struck the NJ Transit overpass. Prior to the arrival of the police, Franklin attempted to back out from under the bridge and in doing so he struck a utility pole. The truck was towed from the scene and Franklin was issued a summons for Careless Driving.

On June 26 at 11:15 PM, Patrolman Wayne Shivers stopped a 2006 Ford on Main Street. The driver was identified as Tariq Barnes age 27 of Newark. It was discovered that Barnes had a ‘no bail’ warrant out of Union County. Barnes was placed under arrest and held at headquarters until being turned over to the Union County Sheriff’s Office.

On June 28 at 5:13 PM, Patrolman Andrew Chase investigated a 2 car accident on Weston Avenue. Maia Heard age 20 of Chatham was slowing down when her car was struck from behind. The driver of the second car, Andrew Pascal age 20 of Livingston, stated that he looked away for a moment and when he turned back the Heard vehicle had slowed and he was unable to stop in time. Pascal was issued a summons for Careless Driving.

On June 30 at 1:11 PM, Patrolman Roy George investigated an accident on Summit Avenue. A 2003 GMC driven by Diane DaSilva age 43 of Elizabeth, was traveling north on Summit Avenue when she struck a parked car. DaSilva was issued a summons for Careless Driving.
