Flemington, New Jersey. April 23rd, 2012 – The Northwest branch of the New Jersey beekeepers association will be hosting the spring state meeting on May 12^th at the North Hunterdon High School located on route 31 in Clinton from 8:30 to 4:00. The meeting, which usually gathers beekeepers belonging to the state association, will be this time, open to the public for a fee of $35 if registered before April 27 and $45 if registered no later than May 5^th. The fee includes lunch. Due to an overwhelming enthusiasm, there will not be any walk on registrations. The featured speakers will be Randy Oliver and Tim Schuler. Randy Oliver owns and operates a small commercial beekeeping enterprise in the foothills of Grass Valley in Northern California. He and his two sons manage about 1000 colonies for migratory pollination, and produce queens, nucs, and honey. He has over 40 years of practical beekeeping experience, plus holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Biological Sciences. Randy researches, analyzes, and digests beekeeping information from all over the world in order to not only broaden his own depth of understanding and knowledge, but to develop practical solutions to many of today's beekeeping problems, which he then shares with other beekeepers through his various articles in bee magazines, his speaking engagements worldwide, and on his website:www.ScientificBeekeeping.com. Tim Schuler, the New Jersey State Apiarist, employed by the New Jersey Department of Agriculture will be speaking on details of the New Jersey Winter Death losses and other topics germane to the spring beekeeping season.

On top of receiving a copy of the latest issue of the very popular magazine “Edible Jersey”, compliments of its editor and publisher, Nancy Painter, attendees will also be able, in between sessions and along the day, to enjoy multiple practical demonstrations and vendor booths among which: mead making, “How to build an observation hive”, the gadget garage, split/nucs, queen rearing as well as a beekeeping book station.

The New Jersey Beekeepers Association (NJBA) is a state-wide organization of over 1,000 hobbyist, sideliner and commercial beekeepers. Its mission is to foster and promote the art of apiculture in New Jersey and to educate residents of the Garden State about the state insect, the honey bee, and its vital role in agriculture.
