MAPLEWOOD, NJ – Over thirty local business owners attended Wednesday’s Visitors Day for the BNI Business Exchange Chapter, held at Crane’s Deli in Maplewood.  BNI President Margo Hill told the assembled business people that at BNI, the members are each other’s sales team.

The atmosphere in the room was electric as business owners introduced themselves with a “Sales Manager’s Minute” where they could share stories of success for their businesses and tell the group what type of referrals are good for them.

BNI members Tony Calabrese and John Hawk were the featured speakers.  Calabrese, who serves as Education Coordinator, is a career coach.  Hawk, a veteran member of the Business Exchange Chapter BNI and owner of the Allstate insurance agency in Chatham, used his speaking time to talk about what BNI means to him.  He said that it comes down to two important things:  networking and referrals.  “Everyone here helps my business,” he said.

After the speakers concluded, the BNI members proceeded to provide referrals and testimonials to fellow members.  The Chapter closed $124,967 in business this past quarter, breaking their goal of $100,000.

As for BNI, Hawk summed it up best, “If you are looking to join BNI, it’s about relationships and the network.  It works for me.”

The Business Exchange Chapter of BNI meets every Wednesday at 7 a.m. at Crane’s Deli, 5 Highland Place, in Maplewood.  For more information, visit www.bni-newjersey.com
