SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ – Scotch Plains resident Vangelis “Van” Dimopoulos, currently a senior at The College of William and Mary, has won a spot on American Idol.
“My first thought when I got the golden ticket was YES. . . I just jumped up and ran outside – I couldn’t believe it!” said Dimopoulos in a “Road To American Idol” video.
After being inspired by former Idol Runner up Clay Aiken, Dimopoulos believes he has a chance to become the next American Idol. “I think my voice is very different from other people on the show.”
Dimopoulos describes his vocal style as “smooth, pop-jazz” and he feels he sings from the heart. “I’m going to Hollywood. . .and I think I could be a great role model.”
