Business Associations Award Scholarships

SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ – The Scotch Plains Business and Professional Association and the Fanwood Business and Professional Association held their annual Barbecue on Wednesday June 13 to present Scholarships to Seniors graduating from SPF High School.

The Scotch Plains BPA awarded scholarships of $750 to Meghan Allen, who is going to Boston College, Lauren Eckert who is bound for Penn State, and Madelyne Dhaliwal, who will be attending the University of Miami.

The SPBPA Ray Pardon Memorial Scholarship of $1,000 was awarded to Raushan Palejwala, who is bound for Boston University.  The Scholarship was set up in honor of Ray Pardon, one of the founding members of the SPBPA who passed away unexpectedly four years ago.

The Fanwood BPA presented the Peter J. Chemidlin Entrepreneurial Award of $1,000 to Ian Patrick Johnston.  This award is to give a student with a GPA of 3.5 or higher, who demonstrates entrepreneurship.  Ian qualified on all counts, with a GPA of 4.3, having participated in the National Student Leadership Conference and is currently raising money to build new homes for the SPFHS Chapter of Habitat for humanity.

Peter J. Chemidlin is President of Family Investors, a past president of the FBPA and is very involved with the community.
