Two More City Grocery Stores Robbed

PATERSON, NJ - The number of armed robberies at city grocery stores and other businesses in the past week has climbed to eight.

Police reported two more incidents - both in the 3rd Ward.

The Mi Genie Mini-Market at 176 4th Avenue wsa robbed by a single gunman at 8:50 pm on Monday, police said. The suspect pulled a gun and ordered two patrons to join the two employees behind the counter while he robbed the cash register and then fled, according to police.

Also, Benny's Mini-Market at 498 12th Avenue was robbed at 9:18 pm on Saturday night, police said. Again a single suspect robbed the cash register, police said.

In both incidents, the suspects were dressed in all black and were wearing black masks, the same as the robbers in the other cases. In most of the other robberies, there were two gunmen. Police are investigating whether all the robberies have bee done by the same individuals.
