PATERSON, NJ - City police on Monday arrested a 25-year-old Paterson man wanted in connection with an armed robbery in which he allegedly used a machine gun.
Authorities say they they received an anonymous phone call in the early morning hours of November 11 from someone alerting them to the whereabouts of Raulin Lopez. He soon was arrested at the Beso Lounge at 21 West Broadway by Paterson Police Officers Michael Cheff and Wilson Lazu, who were assisted by Emergency Response Team Units.
Lopez, a resident of 16th Avenue, was wanted on robbery and weapons charges in a robbery that happened on November 4. Authorities say he held two victims at gunpoint with a machine gun, while his associates stole cellular phones, money and personal identification.
"Again, the selfless assistance of a Paterson resident proved to be integral in helping the Paterson Police Department take a dangerous offender off of the city streets,'' said Capt. Heriberto Rodriguez.
Police are asking that anyone with information on the incident, including the identity of Lopez' accomplices, should contact Detective Pearl from the Paterson Police Detective Bureau at 973-321-1120.
