Acquittal in National Night Out Murder Trial

PATERSON, NJ – After maintaining that the shooting was in self-defense, a 30-year-old Paterson man was acquitted of murder charges in a killing that happened during a National Night Out event in 2010, according to a story on northjersey.com.
The story said Marlon Rochester was acquitted of murder, aggravated manslaughter, manslaughter and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and was convicted of carrying a gun without a permit.
Rochester was accused of shooting Robert Godfrey on 74 Godwin Avenue after a dispute over a girl, the story said.
