PATERSON, NJ - Three city residents were wounded early Saturday morning during a shooting by a gunman on a bicycle.

According to Lt. Patrick Murray, at around 12:45 a.m., a black male wearing a hooded sweatshirt rode by on a bicycle and started firing round at a gathering of people near the corner of Park Avenue and East 18th Street. The three male victims were transported by private vehicle to St. Joseph's Medical Center, where each is in stable condition--a 38-year-old with a wound to the abdomen, a 45-year-old who was shot in the right foot, and a 38-year-old who was shot in the left foot.

The incident occurred just one night after a shooting homicide on the corner of 16th Avenue and Carroll Street. Police are investigating the possibility of a connection.

"There is no immediate connection to the shooting incident the prior evening at 16th Avenue and Carroll Street, but that possibility will be looked at as a matter of investigation," Murray said. "Detectives are currently interviewing possible witnesses and reviewing security camera footage from the area, and the investigation is still very active."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Carlos Charon or Prosecutor’s Detective Rick Ferreira of the Paterson Police Ceasefire Unit at (973) 321-1342.
