PATERSON, NJ - Mohammed Akhtaruzzaman has moved ahead of Sonia Torres in the count to determine who won the 2nd Ward special election.

Aktharuzzaman received 389 absentee votes, according to a story on northjersey.com. That would give him a current total of 1,382. The story said Torres received 100 absentee ballots. That would raise her current total to 1,339. Aslon Goow got 181 absentee votes, according to the story, which would push his total to 1,278.

County election officials still have to sift through the undetermined number of provisional ballots cast in the 2nd Ward as well as ballots that were sent via email or facsimile and mail-in ballots that arrive at election offices on Friday.
