PATERSON, NJ - Two city men walking home early Wednesday morning were beaten and robbed in the 6th Ward by a group of four men, including one armed with a shotgun, police said.

The victims, ages 30 and 29, were near the corner of 22nd Avenue and E. 28th Street at about 12:45 am when they were approached by the suspects, police said.

The man with the shotgun squeezed the trigger a couple times, but the gun did not fire, police said. Then he hit one of the victims in the face with the butt of the shotgun, causing a laceration, police said. The suspects threw the second victim to the ground and went through his pockets, taking the $2 in cash he had along with his credit cards, police said.

The suspects then fled on foot, police said.
