Diversion- The Word of the Day

Sally Rinker

Monday, January 7, 2013 • 10:52pm

On January 6, 2013, the Herald published an article on the opinion page titled, “Resolutions we’d like to see.” (Click here to view). Once again, the editors saw fit to perpetuate diversion. Diversion has also been a real problem in Vernon as it relates to the behavior of our elected officials. The Herald seems to be having a problem either identifying the real stories or chooses to believe the readers are more interested in provocation and diversion. When the Herald stated they would like to see the mayor and I resolve to be civil to one another, I have a difficult time believing that. There have been too many articles written which highlight the attacks by the mayor and my defense, completely avoiding the real story. The writing staff prefers to deliver the confrontation to the reader rather than thorough and factual information and the issues that have fueled the controversy.

I maintain, I have been completely civil to the mayor and council while asking them for truthful information which the public has a right to have. On the contrary, the mayor chooses to verbally assault anyone who questions him, undertakes deliberate investigations into private persons lives and has complete disrespect for the truth.
Please take the time to view the October 11, 2012 and the November 26, 2012 town council meetings which are available to view on Vernonsown.com, at your convenience. These two meetings are just a small sampling of which will show how the reporting of the real news has fallen very short and the mode of operation of our governing body is very concerning indeed.
