ANDOVER TOWNSHIP, NJ – Rae Ann Martin has been a floral designer in Sussex County for 26 years. When the 1987 Sussex Tech graduate was 16 years old, she began working in a floral shop, and, has worked in a number of them throughout the county since. While at her last shop, which she described herself as “running the show”, Martin made the decision to start her own business, and the last day of her job was Thanksgiving 2011.
On January 4, 2012, she opened the doors to Blooms of Elegance at 290 Newton Sparta Road in Andover Township, the town where she is also a resident. In addition to floral selections, including flower arrangements and gift baskets for all occasions, Blooms of Elegance offers other gift items for purchase, and, has a Christmas shop. Free local delivery is included with floral orders.
On Thursday, the shop commemorated its opening with an official ribbon cutting.
“It’s great to see a new business in town, she’s done a great job fixing it up, and, I’m sure she’ll do well,” said Michael Lensak, Andover Township Mayor.
Blooms of Elegance also recently became a member of the Greater Newton Chamber of Commerce.
“We always welcome a new business, and we wish them much success,” said Nancy Woods, Executive Director of the Greater Newton Chamber of Commerce.
“I wish them the best of luck, and I’m very happy they’re here,” said Sandra Diglio, Town of Newton Deputy Mayor, and secretary for the Greater Newton Chamber of Commerce.
