MADISON, NJ – If you think you have to cut back on hair care because money is tight, then you haven’t been to Hair We Are in Madison.
The recently opened salon specializes in the best hair care around, and at prices that are surprisingly affordable.
Why? Because owner Louisa DeRose knows things are tough out there right now. She also knows that getting your hair cut, styled or colored can keep you feeling good about yourself and looking sharp. So the stylists at Hair We Are decided to keep prices low to keep their customers happy and looking good.
And if you’re thinking that lower prices mean lower quality, think again. The eight stylists at Hair We Are all have more than 16 years of experience at Hair Core, a former salon in Madison.
“We charge $30 for single-process hair color, and people literally say to us ‘Only $30? What kind of color are you using?’” said DeRose, who owns the shop with Michele Valentine. She added that she assures her customers they are getting the same high-quality hair color that they would from a higher-priced salon.
“We don’t cut corners, we just keep our prices down because we know times are hard for everyone,” she explained.
Although the salon has been open for a year, the stylists say former clients are still surprised, and thrilled, to find them again.
“When you’re in a salon for 16-plus years, you develop a pretty big following,” DeRose said.
Hair We Are is a kid-friendly shop that offers color, highlights, double process, cuts, and that most valuable of features: free parking. College students get a discount every day, and Senior Citizens Day is Tuesday.
Spring is a busy time at Hair We Are, with girls coming in to get their hair done for prom or other school events, First Communions and weddings. The salon is open 7 days a week.
