SPARTA NJ - A Sparta woman was arrested early Saturday night after she was stopped for speeding on Sparta Avenue.  At 9:57 pm, Officer CJ Grauerholz stopped an orange 2007 Honda Fit on Sparta Avenue after he observed the vehicle being operated erratically and speeding at 50 mpg in a 30 mph zone.

 

The operator, 25-year-old Rebecca N. Thompson was arrested after she failed a series of Field Sobriety Tests.  She was then transported to police headquarters for processing and breath testing.  Thompson was later charged with; DWI, Careless Driving and Speeding. Thompson was released several hours later into the custody of a sober adult.  Her vehicle was later impounded.  Cpl. Andrew Smetana assisted at the scene.
