Playoff Season Begins for Junior Highlander Ice Hockey
Friday, June 22, 2012 • 6:37am
The spring season was exciting for all school aged children in the Berkeley Heights/Mountainside Highlander ice hockey community. There was a Junior Highlander elementary school team (i.e., Squirts), a middle-school team (Pee-wees), and even a solid kindergarten group (Mites). Berkeley Heights/Mountainside students of all ages now have the opportunity to play ice hockey with their classmates. Pretty cool!!!
After finishing in first place in the regular season, the Squirts will start their playoff vs the eighth seed on Saturday, June 23rd at 8:25AM. If they win, they will play in the semi-finals on Sunday (6/24) at 7 AM and the championship at 5 PM on Sunday (6/24). All games are at Union Sports Arena (call 908-687-9810 Sunday to see if the Junior Highlander Squirts will be playing in the Championship…it should be exciting!).
The Junior Highlander middle school team won their first round of the playoffs, but was not as fortunate in the second round. This group grows stronger every year and as they approach high school, they will be creating a lot of excitement at Union Sports Arena!
The high school Highlanders finished their spring season in 2nd place. Their first playoff game is on Saturday, June 23rd at 8:05 PM. If they win, they play on Monday, June 25th at 8:50 PM for the championship.
