Berkeley Heights Officer Stops Stolen Car

On Friday, July 27, 2012 at 9:32 am, Ptl. Andrew Glaydura arrested Desmond L Pratt, 44 of Plainfield.
Ptl. Glaydura was monitoring traffic on Plainfield Avenue and entered the license plate of the vehicle which Pratt was operating, a 1995 Chevy Tahoe. The vehicle returned as a stolen vehicle out of Newark, and was stolen on Monday, July 23rd. Ptl. Glaydura attempted to stop the vehicle and a pursuit ensued travelling south on Bonnie Burn Road into Watchung and over Rt. 22 into Scotch Plains.
The pursuit continued as the vehicle continued travelling west on to E. 2nd street towards Plainfield. The vehicle made numerous turns while in the City of Plainfield, at which time the suspect stopped without further incident at the intersection of East Front Street and Raymond Avenue where Pratt was taken into custody. Pratt was also found
to be in possession of 4 wax folds of heroin and 3 hypodermic needles. Pratt was brought to police headquarters, processed and charged with receiving stolen property, eluding a police officer, possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail was set at $15,000.00 at which time Pratt was given a court date to appear in Union County Superior Court and lodged in the Union County Jail.
