Eighth Straight Win for Women Cougars at Nyack

NYACK, NY - Coming from behind at halftime, the Caldwell College Cougars Women’s Basketball Team plowed ahead to defeat the Nyack College Warriors, 65-48 Wednesday night at Bowman Gymnasium.
With 6:38 remaining in the first half, Caldwell struggled early and Nyack built a 20-15 lead. But with just 3:14 left on the clock, sparked by three points from junior forward Jeanette Anderson, the Cougars pulled ahead, 24-22. However, a pair of baskets by Courtney Peay over the final three minutes allowed the Warriors to take a 26-24 lead at the break.
The Cougars regained the lead early in the second half with two baskets by Anderson and a pair of free throws from Emily Caswell which brought the score to 30-28, Cougars.
With 12:38 to play, a three-pointer by the Warrior’s Ashley Tallman, junior guard from Rotterdam, NY, and three points from Khamari Tellis helped Nyack pull ahead, 34-32.
Eventually at the two-minute mark, the Cougars took control with a 56-41 lead. Nicole Angelo scored six points and Anderson added five. Nyack never came closer than 12 points, while Caldwell earned its eighth straight victory, 65-48.

Tonight’s Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game was the eighth victory in a row for the Cougars, who improve to 12-11 overall and 10-4 in the conference, while the Warriors drop to 1-20, 1-12 CACC.
Saturday, Feb. 9, the Cougars will take on Chestnut Hill College at 1pm in the George R. Newman Center.
