South Orange Police Arrest 2 Maplewood Teens in Burglary

A weekly roundup of SOPD activity: Two Maplewood teens have been arrested in connection with a burglary at a Fielding Court residence on Dec. 17.
Police report that Raynald Laurent and Kyree Smith, both 18, were arrested at 2:40 p.m. after a chase on foot through several yards. A witness told police he saw two black males running from the front door of the home that had been broken into, carrying a backpack.
Maplewood police assisted with the arrest. The two suspects had jewelry, two laptops and cash belonging to the victim, according to police. Entry to the home was gained by breaking the glass on a rear door. The Detective Bureau is continuing to investigate.

police arrested Troy Turner, 18, of South Orange at 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 19 after a complaint regarding trespassing on private property on both Seton Place and Eder Terrace.
one vehicle was reported stolen, and one vehicle was broken into. A Reynolds Place resident told police that at 3:30 a.m. on Dec. 17, he saw two individuals steal his vehicle from his driveway. A Speir Drive resident told police someone stole the owner’s manual and valet key from his vehicle, which was parked in his driveway, someone overnight on Dec. 15.
- a Newark resident reported that a group of teens threw a cup containing some kind of liquid at him while he was riding his bicycle at 10:40 p.m. on Dec. 14 on Irvington Avenue. The item struck the victim in the side. Police were not able to locate the juveniles.
