Summer programs fill up quickly, and not every family gets the chance to enroll their child into the program of their choice. Fortunately, the summer isn’t over yet. The Scotch Plains and Fanwood Recreation Departments host a variety of exciting programs through late July and August, with programs available for kids of all ages.

The Fanwood Recreation Summer Park Program still has openings for their PM sessions, which run from 12 PM to 3 PM. Kids from kindergarten to sixth grade can be enrolled for just one or two, or multiple weeks in a row of this program. Children are placed with other members of their age group and participate in a number of fun activities. Additionally, there are still two open sessions of the Scotch Plains Small Fry Camp for children age three to five who have yet to attend kindergarten, running from late July into August.

There are plenty of options out there for kids with a love of sports as well. Scotch Plains and Fanwood continue to have open sessions in late July and August of its summer Multi-Sports Camp for ages 5 to 14, Golf Camp for ages 3 to 5 or 5 to 11, Tennis Clinic for ages 7 to 14, and for younger children between 3 and 5, Sports Squirts camp. There is also a Soccer Camp for kids ages 5 to 10, Baseball Camp for grades 1 to 9, Lacrosse Clinic for ages 6 to 14, and Pony Camp for ages 3 to 7 and 7 to 13.

Other programs cater to a plethora of interests. The Hocus Pocus summer camp teaches children from kindergarten to 5th grade to perform magic tricks, while the Fashionably Chic Summer Camp allows kids between 1st and 8th grade to practice their design creativity and even put on their own fashion show. Junior Scientists and the Little Bakers accept children 5 to 10 years old.  Spanish programs include Mis Cosas Favoritas De La Escuela, where kids ages 4 to 8 can talk about all of their favorite aspects of school, and Aventuras- Vamos A Explorar, where kids between 8 and 11 years are provided with a stimulating language immersion experience.

For more detailed information on any of these programs, visit the Scotch Plains Parks & Recreation Department website at http://www.scotchplainsnj.com/rec_main.html, or the Fanwood Recreation Department website at http://www.fanwoodrecreation.org/. The dates and times of the above programs are accessible on either site.
