WEST ORANGE, NJ - On Wednesday, September 19, 2012, Mayor Robert Parisi, Town Administrators, and town employees joined forces with Shoprite Supermarkets in West Orange, NJ, to participate in the Annual "Bag Hunger" event.  September is Hunger Awareness Month and Shoprite, who raises money for the Community Food Bank in Hillside as well as money for local food pantries with its Partners in Caring grant program, has been seeking donations and will be holding events all month long.

This is the third year the mayor and the township have participated in helping to raise awareness of hunger.  Right here in West Orange, the Holy Trinity West Orange Food Pantry, one of the Partners in Caring recipients, provides food for approximately 400 people each month.  Cynthia Cumming, the Food Pantry Administrator, noted that "this has been a very difficult year for the food pantry - our donations are way down and we have been struggling month to month to remain open."

Please support the efforts of Shoprite this month.  If you would like to help out the Holy Trinity West Orange Food Pantry directly, please mail your donation to Holy Trinity West Orange Food Pantry, 315 Main Street, West Orange NJ, or contact Administrator Cynthia Cumming at heidlercumming@aol.com.
